We are retiring the 7000/7001 Series of PVC Vortex Flow Sensors, effective September 6, 2009. With the performance of new products such as the 2551 Magmeter, the need for the PVC versions of the Vortex flow sensor has diminished.
We recommend two alternatives: 2551 Magmeter Flow Sensors or 2536 Paddlewheel Flow Sensors. Both of these alternatives can measure lower flow rates, have wider dynamic ranges and are comparable or lower in price to the PVC Vortex sensors. If choosing to go with one of these alternatives with your existing instrument or PLC system, please be sure to reconfigure and calibrate your system.
We are also retiring the 2517 Brass Paddlewheel Flow Sensor Series. The retirement will be effective September 6, 2009.
The 2540 Stainless Steel High Performance Flow Paddlewheel Sensor may be used as a replacement for the 2517 in applications where the sensor is connected to an instrument/PLC that has power and where Stainless Steel is compatible with the fluid used in the application. The 2540 sensor is capable of measuring down to a lower flow rate than the 2517. The 2540 has the same thread size so it can be a drop-in replacement in terms of installation and also has the same capabilities for adjustment across the full pipe size range. If choosing to go with one of these alternatives with your existing instrument or PLC system, please be sure to reconfigure and calibrate your system.
All Vortex and 2517 products purchased on or before September 6, 2009, shall be fully supported by our two-year warranty. We shall also continue to fully support product repairs for non-warranty items for up to two years from September 6, 2009.
Replacement parts listed in the table above will still be available for two years from September 6, 2009, and after this date, parts shall be available while supplies last.
Any unsold Vortex and 2517 products in your inventory may be returned up to September 6, 2009, to Georg Fischer Signet LLC for full credit. A restocking fee will not be applied.
